Shreveport Offering Free Motion Activated Floodlights
Shreveport residents have a chance to brighten up their property without spending a dime as the city rolls out Phase II of Operation Safe Neighborhoods. This round of the initiative centers on installing two free motion activated floodlights on qualifying homes, one in the front and one in the rear.
City leaders say the goal is simple. Give residents better visibility and a greater sense of safety around the places they live. All equipment and labor are covered by the program, and installations will be handled by city partnered crews.
Who in Shreveport Can Get the Lights
The offer is available to homeowners inside Shreveport city limits. Elderly residents at least sixty two years old and residents with disabilities may also qualify, even if they rent. Each household can apply once.

Homes that already have floodlights installed do not qualify for this phase. The city notes that applications will be handled on a first come, first served basis and are subject to eligibility and available inventory.
What Paperwork Is Needed
Applicants will need to provide proof of homeownership such as a mortgage statement, tax bill, deed, or homeowner’s insurance. Elderly residents should bring a government issued ID with their date of birth.

Residents applying under disability status may provide documents such as SSI or SSDI letters, VA verification, or a doctor’s note. Disability documentation is optional and confidential.
How To Get Started
Residents can apply by filling out the Operation Safe Neighborhoods application and submitting it online or turning it in to the Department of Community Development. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule installation. If staff cannot reach the applicant after two attempts, the application moves to the bottom of the list.
