According to a report from businesswire.com, in 2023 alone, Americans lost more than $25.4 billion to telephone-based scams.

21% – more than 56.2 million people – admitting they were victimized

Using an old outdoorsman analogy, you keep fishing where the fish are, and it's evident these crooks have identified a honey hole.

And once again, another of these phone scams has surfaced in the area, targeting unsuspecting residents of Caddo Parish.

In a notice from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, we learn that investigators are reporting that scammers are impersonating the Honorable Judge Chris Victory and the Caddo Parish Clerk of Court, Mike Spence.

Having already targeted multiple Caddo Parish residents, we find that once these calls are initiated, scammers demand money, claiming that there is a warrant for the individual's arrest due to failure to appear for jury duty.

The Caddo Sheriff's Office warns all citizens that this is not how they conduct issues of this nature:

It is important to understand that no one from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office will ever request payments over the phone or ask for payment by mail.

Do not make any payments, provide personal information, or share details about gift or money cards.
