Baton Rouge, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - After days of interviews and debates, the LSU Board of Supervisors has chosen the next man to lead the university in Baton Rouge. On Tuesday, the board named McNeese State University President Wade Rousse as the 29th President of Louisiana State University.

The LSU Board of Supervisors had to choose from McNeese State University president Wade Rousse, executive vice president and provost at the University of Alabama, and Dr. Robert Robbins, a former president of the University of Arizona.

Wade Rousse Named Louisiana State University President

It was believed by many that Rousse was the favorite to land the job with his work during his short tenure at McNeese. Enrollment has seen skyrocketing numbers under Rousse's leadership. This year, McNeese is celebrating major growth. The university saw its largest increase in enrollment in more than 22 years. It welcomed its biggest freshman class in many years, and dorm rooms are full.

Even still, students expressed opposition to the potential hiring of Rousse during public comment periods, citing concerns about his close alignment with Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry.
