Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - National attention is already rolling in for the two-time defending Southland Conference Champion McNeese Cowboys, as it was announced on Tuesday that CBS Sports Network will broadcast two games to a National audience this season.

The Southland Conference recently signed new media deals with ESPN and CBS Sports Network that allow the conference multiple nationally televised games across both networks throughout the athletic calendar.

“The fact that McNeese will play on CBS Sports twice this year shows how far our athletic program has come in a relatively short amount of time,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer. “Showing up on national linear television is a huge opportunity; it not only showcases our athletic program but also enhances our university’s brand. We’re all one team at McNeese. I’m thrilled and excited that CBS Sports is putting us on, and I can’t wait to watch.”

The network’s coverage with McNeese begins Friday, January 2, 2026, with a rematch of last season’s Southland Conference Championship Game as the two-time defending champion Cowboys host rival Lamar at 6 p.m. inside Townsley Law Arena in Lake Charles.

McNeese’s second televised matchup will come on Monday, March 2, when the Cowboys travel to face Nicholls in Thibodaux. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

Other games on the CBS Sports Network slate include:

  • Jan. 26: Northwestern State at Stephen F. Austin – 8 p.m.
  • Feb. 2: UIW at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi – 8 p.m.
  • Feb. 23: Nicholls at Lamar – 6 p.m.

That might not be the only nationally televised games this season for McNeese, as ESPN will announce its broadcast schedule later this week.
