LSU/North Carolina Draws Record-Breaking Viewers

On Monday Night, the North Carolina Tarheels came from behind to defeat the LSU Tigers 4-3 in Game Seven of the Chapel Hill Regional. One of just four Game 7's that was played on Monday and it drew some MAJOR Television numbers.

The Tigers had to work out of the loser's bracket after falling to North Carolina on Sunday. LSU had to defeat Wofford Sunday Morning and then hold on to beat the Tarheels on Sunday Night to force a winner-take-all Game 7.

The LSU Tigers got out to a 3-2 lead thanks to Solo Homers from Jake Brown and Jared Jones. But, North Carolina second baseman Alex Madera would line the go-ahead single in the top of the 10th inning and the Tar Heels would secure a come-from-behind 4-3 win over LSU in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional championship game.

North Carolina, which advances to the NCAA Super Regional this weekend versus West Virginia, is 45-14 this season. LSU completed its season with a 43-23 record.

On Wednesday, it was released that the LSU/North Carolina games drew a MASSIVE television crowd.

According to ESPN and a release from LSU, the LSU-North Carolina matchups on Saturday and Monday in Chapel Hill, N.C., were the two most-watched NCAA Baseball Regional games on record, according to ESPN.

Game 7 featuring LSU and North Carolina on Monday averaged 964,000 viewers on ESPN2, and Game 4 between the Tigers and Tar Heels on Saturday averaged 756,000 viewers on ESPN2, making them the two most-watched Regional games on record.

Overall, the 16 NCAA Regionals last week produced the largest-ever viewership for the regional round on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN +.
