Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun baseball team earned their first victory of the 2015 season in impressive fashion, bouncing back from a Friday night defeat to handle the UTSA Roadrunners on the diamond, winning 8-2.

Junior Joe Robbins got the start at third base, and made a huge impact on offense with his bat. A 3-4 day at the plate with a home run, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored for Robbins helped propel the Cajun offense.

Senior Greg Davis and Junior Derek Herrington (watch our 1 on 1 interview with Herrington here) each chipped in two hits a piece, while Brenn Conrad hit a 2 RBI triple.

"Our hitters did a good job again today and we pitched well, and when you do that you are going to win. We tell our guys that you aren't going to win every game, but our young arms came out and did a great job," said head coach Tony Robichaux. "We always talk about the ability to respond. Our guys bushed themselves off from last night and came out today and responded in a big way."

Freshmen Evan Guillory started on the mound, earning a victory in his first collegiate appearance. He pitched 5 complete innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 unearned run, and an impressive 7 strikeouts and no walks.

With the victory, Louisiana improves to 1-1 on the season, with a chance to take the road series tomorrow versus UTSA.

First pitch Sunday is set for 1:00. Senior right hander Greg Milhorn will start for the Cajuns, after battling a bout with the flu last week.
