Yankees Win Bidding War for Tanaka

Masuhiro Tanaka has agreed to a contract with the New York Yankees that will  pay him $155 million dollars over the next seven seasons, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

It would be the highest salary ever paid for a free agent pitcher and the sixth highest overall in baseball history.

Tanaka is considered to be a #1 starter in Major League Baseball after going 24--0 with a 1.27 ERA in the Japanese League last season.  The agreement was first reported by Fox Sports.  He is 99-35 in his Japanese career.

The signing is considered to be huge for the Yankees, who have an aging top of the rotation.  New York has been active in the offseason, signing free agents Brian McCann and Jacolby Ellsbury , among others.
