UL Softball Survives FIU, 8-7, In 8 Innings
The third-seeded Louisiana Ragin' Cajun Softball team opened up Sun Belt Conference Tournament play on Wednesday, defeating the FIU Panthers, 8-7, in ten innings, at the Troy Softball Complex in Troy, Alabama.
Brianna Cherry delivered a two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring Natalie Fernandez, to lift Louisiana to their 23rd-consecutive victory.
Sarah Draheim led the Cajuns at the plate, going 3-for-3, with a home run, and three RBI's.
Jordan Wallace (27-6) recorded the win, her 17th-straight, while Shelby Graves (6-3) suffered the loss.
With the win, Louisiana improved to 41-11 on the season, while sixth-seeded FIU dropped to 27-27.
The Cajuns return to action on Thursday, taking on second-seeded South Alabama, at 5:30 pm.
