Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team opens up NCAA Ragional play on Friday evening, taking on the Mississippi Valley St. Devilettes at Lamson Park.

Louisiana, the top-seed in the regional, and the #14-seed overall, will welcome the Stanford Cardinal and the Baylor Lady Bears, along with Mississippi Valley St. this weekend.

UL comes into the match-up at 49-4 on the year, while MVSU currently stands 34-17.

The Cajuns defeated the Devilettes, 21-0, back on February 12 of this year.

Mississippi Valley St. is expected to pitch junior right-hander Alicia Lorenz, who was named the 2012 SWAC Pitcher of the Year, after posting an overall record of 19-8, with a 2.47 era.

Louisiana is expected to counter with either senior right-hander Ashley Brignac, who was named the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year after posting an overall record of 21-3, with a 2.08 era., or freshman right-hander Jordan Wallace, who was tabbed the league's Freshman of the Year, after posting a 25-1 record, with a 2.08 era.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 pm, or 30 minutes following the first game of the day, which will feature Stanford and Baylor, which will be gin at 3:30 pm.
