Sun Belt softball: Williams’ gem lifts Troy over FIU

Ashlyn Williams was named second team all Sun Belt conference as a pitcher.  She pitched like a first teamer today.

The senior lefty allowed just one hit and #5 seed Troy advanced by beating #4 FIU 4-0 at the Sun Belt Tournament at Lamson Park in Lafayette.

Williams won her tenth game in the last twelve decisions and allowed only a first inning single by Beth Peller.  She walked three and struck out seven.

Sarah Harris, Kortney Cooper and Nicki Hollett each had two hits for the Trojans, who advance to the 5:30 game tomorrow night against the winner of #1 Louisiana and #8 Middle Tennessee.

FIU will meet the loser of the UL/MTSU game in an elimination game at 12:30 tomorrow.
