Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns dropped their eighth straight game Friday night, falling to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 6-2 at "Tigue" Moore Field.

The Cajuns (13-16, 3-7 Sun Belt) fell behind in the first inning on a two-out homer by Casey Dykes and a run-scoring triple by Ryan Hutchinson, but came back to tie the score with single runs in the second and third innings.

Jordan Bourque's sacrifice fly got the Cajuns on the board and Louisiana tied it on a Chase Compton single in the third.

It didn't stay tied long, however, as Hutchinson homered off Jordan Nicholson to lead off the fourth.  The score stayed 3-2 until the seventh, when reliever Matt Hicks allowed a two run triple to Jared Andreoli and a run scoring single to make it 6-2.

Justin Hagemann (2-3) got the win for the Hilltoppers (13-17, 5-5), pitching five strong innings, allowing just three hits.

Ross Hammonds allowed just an infield single over the next three innings before Taylor Haydel got the Cajuns in order in the ninth.

The Cajuns, who got just three hits in a 2-1 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, had just four singles on the night.

Louisiana will try again tomorrow night at 6pm when they face WKU in the second game of their three game series.  Lefty Chris Griffitt will get the start for the Cajuns.
