When inspections come out for Lufkin restaurants, some end up with zero violations yearly. This is common and it happened in January for one Lufkin steak house.

Outback Steakhouse No.4433 at 2206 South First Street was inspected on January 17, 2024. They achieved a perfect score and received no violations.

The Angelina County and Cities Health District did another round of inspections from February 13 through March 2, 2024. The three restaurants inspected all got at least 10 violations, according to the Lufkin Daily News.

Popeye's No. 3128 at 1106 South Timberland Drive in Lufkin received a follow-up inspection on February 20, 2024. During this visit, they had 14 violations.

The following issues were observed, among others. They found rusted shelving in the walk-in cooler, an under cabinet cooler was missing panels, and thick black encrusted deposits on baking trays.

Rodent droppings were observed in the water heater closet and dry storage area. They were found on sugar packets and punctured condiment packages. A voluntary closure was issued at that time.

Since this report, they have made major improvements to the facility and have reopened.

The Spot Gourmet Griddle At Lufkin Mall Gets 11 Violations

The Spot Gourmet Griddle in the parking lot at Lufkin Mall had a full inspection on February 26, 2024. In the report, notations were made about hand washing, hair nets, and utensil cleaning. Basic food handling and sanitation issues were addressed.

They noticed additional storage was needed to keep containers from being stored on the floor. Food containers were removed and washed according to the code.

Dunkin/Baskin Robbins On Timberland Gets 10 Violations

A full inspection of the Dunkin' Baskin-Robbins at 216 South Timberland Drive was done on February 13, 2024. They noted some storage issues with packaged food in contact with ice/water.

They recommended that single-use gloves be used for only one task and that a general cleaning of the facility should be performed.

Over 40 Felony Arrests In Angelina County in January 2024

These are felony arrests in Angelina County in January with mugshots. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Most of the arrests were made by the Lufkin Police Department and the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.
