LSU Defeats Rutgers, 55-50
The LSU Tiger men's basketball picked up a non-conference road win on Saturday night, defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knight, 55-50, as part of the SEC/Big East challenge.
With LSU trailing by a point, Anthony Hickey hit jumper to give the Tigers a 49-48 lead with 1:19 remaining.
Hickey then fouled Austin Johnson, who then nailed two free throws, giving Rutgers a 50-49 lead, at the 1:05 mark.
Hickey came right back and hit a 10-foot floater in the lane, to give the Tigers the lead back, 51-50, with :40 remaining.
After a Rutgers offensive foul, Johnny O'Bryant get free for a dunk, to extend the Tigers' lead to 53-50, with 12.7 seconds left.
Rutgers lost the basketball on their next possession, and O'Bryant sealed the win with two free throws, making the final score 55-50.
LSU was able to out-shoot Rutgers from the field, 36%-33%.
Andre Stringer led the Tigers, with 13 points, while O'Bryant chipped in with 11.
Eli Carter paced the Scarlet Knights in a losing cause, with 10 points.
With the win, LSU improves to 5-3 on the season, while Rutgers falls to 4-4.
