Vin Scully is a legend, and he's also a historian. Recently, he developed a fascination with beards, and when Vin researches something, he digs deep.

Last MLB season, Scully started to notice an increasing amount of beards growing on the faces of players. It's not just a growing trend among ball players, young men in all walks of life are exploring their fuzzy side.

As a proud graduate of the "old school," Scully was truly amazed about the outbreak of facial hair.

Remember the good old days when Gillette sponsored the league and the players were all clean shaven? Vin does, and he remembers a lot more than that too.

Nobody weaves a story or narrative in and out of a game better than Scully. It's his signature touch to an incredible career. In his most recent piece of oratory art, he walked us all through the history of beards, dating all the way back to the dawn of humanity.

According to Vin, men started rocking beards to attract the ladies and to scare off wild animals. Later, he makes a biblical beard reference. Did you know the Supreme Court outlawed beards? That's only the tip of the beard's tale.

Ladies and gentleman, the great Vin Scully is here to take you to school. Sit back and take notes.

He's just showing off. That was basically a full history lesson peppered in between a baseball broadcast.

Greek dramatists, Alexander the Great, the first female king of Egypt and Abraham Lincoln all had one thing in common: beards. You probably didn't know that, but thanks to Vin Scully, now you do.

How many more stories like this will we get before he retires? Who knows, after he signs off the mic, he might walk into a history class and start lecturing.
