Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun Louisiana Ragin' Cajun, and current Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy was named a winner of a 2014 Fielding Bible Award, which were announced on Thursday.

The awards, which are given out to the top defensive players at each position, based on statistical analysis, are selected by a 12-member committee, and are viewed as an alternative to the more traditional Gold Glove Awards.

Since he Fielding Bible Awards were first given out in 2006, this year marks only the third time that Yadier Molina of the St. Louis Cardinals was not tabbed at the catcher position.

Lucroy, who was drafted in the third round of the MLB Amateur Draft by the Brewers in 2007, played for Louisiana from 2005-2007.

The 28-year old Lucroy, a native of Eustis, Florida, finished just ahead of Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Russell Martin in the voting at the catcher position.
