It was a wild Monday, in Major League Baseball playoff action, as the Los Angeles Dodgers advanced to the next round, while the Oakland Athletics grabbed a series lead, and both the St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays survived possible elimination.

In Los Angeles, Juan Uribe belted a two-run home run in the bottom half of the eighth inning, to lift the Dodgers past the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, and help them win that National League Division Series, 3-1.

The Dodgers now advance to the National League Championship Series, where they will face either the Pittsburgh Pirates or the St. Louis Cardinals.

In Pittsburgh, the Cardinals got 7.1 innings of one-hit pitching from Michael Wacha, as they fought off elimination by downing the Pirates, 2-1, evening-up that best-of-five game NLDS, 2-2.

The Cardinals will host game five, in St. Louis, on Wednesday at 7:07 (cdt).

In the American League, Tampa Bay's Jose Lobaton crushed a walk-off home run off of Boston closer Koji Uehara to lift the Rays to a 5-4 win over the Red Sox on Monday night, to keep their season alive.

The Red Sox continue to lead that best-of-five game American League Division Series, 2-1.

The Rays will host game four, Tuesday evening, at 8:37 (edt).

Finally, in Detroit, the Oakland Athletics got home runs from Brandon Moss, Seth Smith, and Josh Reddick to power their way past the Tigers, 6-3.

The win gives the A's a 2-1 lead in that best-of-five game ALDS.
