Cullen Finnerty Found Dead

Cullen Finnerty, who led Grand Valley St. University to three Division II national championships, and finished his career as the winningest quarterback in NCAA history, was found dead on Tuesday night, after being missing since Sunday.

The 30-year old Finnerty, who guided Grand Valley St. to national titles in 2003, 2005, and 2006, and finished his career with a 51-4 record as a starting quarterback, disappeared while fishing near his family's cottage.

His body was found within a mile of where he went missing, and authorities say that foul play is not suspected.

A search party, which included family members, coaches and players from Grand Valley St., and numerous volunteers had been searching for Finnerty.

After signing with Toledo out of high school, Finnerty redshirted, before transferring to Grand Valley St., where he threw for 10,905 yards, with 110 touchdowns, while rushing for 2,383 yards, with 31 touchdowns, over his four-year career.

Finnerty was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2007, where he was placed on the practice squad for most of the year, before being signed to the active roster for the final two games.

He was waived by the Denver Broncos in 2008, after signing with that organization.
