New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week.

The Pelicans went 3-1 last week, with the lone loss coming in a game Davis sat out due to injury.

In the three wins, he averaged a league-best 33.7 points, with a conference leading 13.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of today's news is it's only the second time Anthony Davis has received the honor.

He took home the honor last March. Before Davis, the last New Orleans player to garner Western Conference Player of the Week honors was former point guard Greivis Vasquez.

In total, only 6 players in franchise history (since the Hornets moved to New Orleans in 2002) have earned Conference Player of the Week awards.
